Growing Pains

My DS, Baby Bubs, was nine months old today. He is cruising the furniture, can stand without hanging onto anything (well, to support himself, he'll often pick something up then stand there holding it with no support) and has learned a few tricks. He does "so cute," "so big," "gimme five" and will copy you if you stick your tongue out at him - maybe not so funny in a few more months but cute for now. We had to drive into the city last Thursday for Gem's eye appointment where we saw a two month old in the waiting room, Gem was amazed at how small that baby was compared to Bubs, she's too funny. Gem is the best big sister, I have to run interference sometimes on behalf of poor Bubs, but I tell her all the time that I wish I had one of her when she was a baby. She loves feeling like she's being responsible for him, and I'm able to trust her to keep an eye on him for a few minutes while I run downstairs to do laundry or other chores which is a huge help. I love counting off the milestones my kids reach, and I love gabbing with other moms bragging my kids up and hearing their stories, too.

I'm feeling rather morose today, because time is going so fast - it's so cliche but true. I have less than three months left of maternity leave left and I am nowhere near ready to go back, I'm trying not to think about it but the day is looming nearer. Grr.
